Pengarah dan aktor Bollywood, Nishikant Kamat, yang pernah mengarah filem "Madaari" disahkan meninggal dunia pada Isnin di Hospital AIG, Hyderabad, selepas menderita sirosis hati selama dua tahun.
Difahamkan Nishikant telah dikejarkan ke hospital pada 31 Julai lalu selepas mengadu mengalami demam panas dan keletihan yang berpanjangan.
Walau bagaimanapun, kadar kesihatannya semakin menyusut sejak 16 Ogos, di mana dia mengalami sesak nafas dan tekanan rendah sehingga menyebabkan organ-organ dalamannya gagal berfungsi.
Sehubungan dengan itu, selebriti-selebriti Bollywood seperti Abhishek Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Rajkummar Rao, John Abraham, Farhan Akhtar dan pembikin filem Ashutosh Gowariker tampil memberi penghormatan terakhir di laman Twitter masing-masing.

Untuk rekod, Nishikant yang berusia 50 tahun, membuat debut sebagai aktor dalam filem "Hava Aney Dey" (2004), dan bergelar pengarah buat kali pertama menerusi filem Marathi, "Dombivali Fast" (2005).
Filem "Dombivali Fast" berjaya menjadi filem terbesar tahun 2005, serta melayakkan Nishikant merangkul trofi Pengarah Terbaik di Festival Filem Pertama Asia 2006 dan anugerah berprestij lain seperti Filem Marathi Terbaik di Festival Filem Antarabangsa Pune 2006 dan Anugerah Filem Nasional 2006.
