Anti-corruption activist Cynthia Gabriel has been named by the US State Department as one of its “Anti-Corruption Champions” for 2022.

The Anti-Corruption Champions Award is a significant recognition of Cynthia Gabriel's outstanding efforts, and it’s an amazing accomplishment to receive such recognition from the US Secretary of State, Senator Anthony Blinken, in Washington DC.

Gabriel, the executive director of the Center to Combat Corruption and Cronyism, is being recognized for her work in exposing and combating corruption. It's important to have individuals and organizations that are dedicated to ensuring transparency and accountability in governance.

Having said that, her nomination for the International Women of Courage Award by the US embassy in Kuala Lumpur is a testament to her bravery and commitment to fighting corruption. This award recognizes women who have demonstrated exceptional courage and leadership in advocating for peace, justice, human rights, gender equality, and women's empowerment.

Gabriel's vocal stance on the share ownership issue surrounding the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief and the need for institutional reforms in the anti-graft agency highlights the critical role of civil society in holding government officials accountable.
