Aged 53, the actor took his last breath today (29 Apr) at Mumbai’s Kokilaben hospital after being admitted for colon infection. In 2018, Irrfan was diagnosed with the neuroendocrine tumor for which he received a lengthy treatment in the UK.
To the delight of many, he recovered and was healthy enough to shoot for his last film 'Angrezi Medium'. The film's theatrical release was pushed from March due to the COVID-19 lockdown in India.
Irrfan was one of the few actors who succeeded in making his mark in both Bollywood and Hollywood films. In the west, he's known for his roles in Slumdog Millionaire, Life of Pi, and Jurassic World, while the Indian cinema celebrates him in numerous films including The Lunch Box, Piku, Haider and Hindi Medium.
