Rahman is a veteran actor who has been acting in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada films over the last three decades.
He married Meherunnisa, the younger sister of AR Rahman's wife Saira Banu, in 1993 and the couple is blessed with two children.

On December 9th, Rushda Rahman, Rahman's oldest daughter, married Altaf Nawad in a spectacular reception at Chennai. AR Rahman and his family attended the reception. Along with them, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin also personally congratulated the newlyweds.
