Leading Kollywood actor Sivakarthikeyan has filed a case against the filmmaker of 'Mr. Local' at the Madras High Court. Both Sivakarthikeyan and Nayanthara played the lead role in the 2019 movie directed by M Rajesh that failed to fare well in the theatres. Now the actor has accused the film's producer Gnanavel Raja of failing to pay his full remuneration.

The actor stated in the complaint that his agreed remuneration for the movie was Rs 15 crores with the last Rs 1 crore to be paid before the movie's release. However, the producer only paid Rs 11 crores without remitting TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) to the government. Now the actor has been given a notice by the Income Tax Department and Rs91 Lakhs was deducted from his account, forcing him to file the case.

Sivakarthikeyan has requested the Madras High Court to ban the producer's upcoming films including 'Rebel', 'Chiyaan 61' and 'Pathu Thala' until the remaining Rs4 crores wages for 'Mr. Local' is settled, as well as to stop the producer from transferring any rights of the three movies to film distributors or OTT platforms.
