Actress Anushka Shetty emerged as one of the top heroines of South Indian cinema after a series of hit films with big stars and directors. She has worked with top heroes in Kollywood and Tollywood like Rajinikanth, Vijay, Suriya, Ajith, Prabhas, and many more.

After the release of Bhaagamathie in 2018, the actress took a sabbatical from films and only made a guest appearance in Telugu film Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. Her upcoming bilingual film 'Nishabdham' was shot in Telugu and Tamil simultaneously and created a buzz when the trailer first came out.

However, the theatrical release of the film has been postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. According to Cine Ulagam, Anushka has signed yet another film with a star director and requested a whopping salary of Rs. 3 crore (RM 1.6 million).

It's common for actresses to receive a significantly lower amount of salary as compared to their male counterparts. Based on her past success and increasing film offers, Anushka is believed to have hiked up her salary, and the director has agreed to pay her.

With the rising number of female-centric films, it won't be a surprise if actresses earn salaries on par with top actors in Kollywood.
