A major accident on the set of Ulaganayagan Kamalhassan's "Indian 2" has claimed three lives, and injured nine others.

According to reports, the incident occurred at the shooting spot at EVP film city in Chennai, on Wednesday night, when a crane collapsed on a tent where the film crew had been standing with camera monitors.

While Kamal escaped unscathed in the incident, there are contradicting reports on Shankar, with some claiming the director suffered a fractured leg, while others say he was unharmed.

The deceased have been identified as Krishna (34), an assistant director, and food providers Madhu (29), and Chandran (60).

The injured were rushed to the hospital for treatment, and investigations are underway.

Kamal tweeted his condolences to the deceased, describing the tragedy as the worst he has seen in his years in the industry.He also assured that proper treatment will be accorded to the injured.The shooting for the much-anticipated sequel to the 1996 hit "Indian" has been going on amid much delay.
