The 'Maestro Ilaiyaraaja Live In Kuala Lumpur' concert, featuring the legendary composer, has been postponed to June, due to COVID-19 concerns.

The organiser, Mojo Projects, in a statement last night, said the decision was taken to heed the advise of the Malaysian Health Ministry, as well as the Indian health authorities, to put off large gatherings.

"We must sadly confirm the rescheduling of the concert due to COVID-19 concerns.

"The concert, which was scheduled for this weekend (March 14), will now take place on Saturday, June 20, 2020, at the same venue - MITEC KL," read the statement.

According to Mojo, the decision was also pertinent as it prioritized the safety and health of the artists, concertgoers, and its staff.

"While we are disheartened by the turn of events, we also know that this is the best course of action during these trying times.

"All purchases for the March date will be honoured for the rescheduled June date. We apologize for the inconvenience caused and hope for your continuous support in our efforts. See you in June!" it said.

Ilaiyaraaja himself, in a brief video posted on Mojo Project's social media channels, confirmed the postponement of the event due to the COVID-19 threat.

Nonetheless, he was eager to meet his fans at a later date, added the maestro.

The concert was supposed to have featured famous singers SP Balasubramaniam, Mano, Swetha Mohan, Haricharan, Usha Uthup, Surmukhi, Madhu Balakrishnan and many more.
