Vijay is a leading Kollywood actor, who's fondly called as Thalapathy by his loyal fans around the world.

To-date, Vijay has given many super hit movies and his latest movies - Bigil, Sarkar, and Mersal, grossed over Rs100 crore worldwide.

Being one of the top actors in the cinema industry, Vijay was approached by director Shankar to play the lead in the political satire 'Mudhalvan' in 1999, starring Manisha Koirala and Raghuvaran.

However, it is said that Vijay's call sheet discussion between S.A Chandrasekhar and Shankar's assistant director didn't end well. At the same time, it was also said that Vijay was not keen on playing a strong politics-based movie at the age of 25 then.

Thus, director Shankar chose Ajun to play the lead in Mudhalvan and the movie became one of the most successful movies in Arjun's cinema career.

After declining the movie, Vijay worked under Shankar's direction in 'Nanban' thirteen years later.
