Actress Sithara was first introduced in Kollywood by legendary director K. Balachander in his famous 80s movie 'Pudhu Pudhu Arthangal'.

The movie featuring Rahman, Geetha, and Sithara in the lead became a super hit and Isaignani Ilayaraja's songs are still famous until today.

Following her debut, the actress worked on many Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada movies.

When the actress didn't get many opportunities to play the female lead in movies, she started working on supporting roles and television serials - and sustained till today in the industry.

The actress who's had quite a successful movie career remained unmarried, and now at the age of 46, she explains the reason behind her decision.

In an interview, the actress revealed that she lost her father unexpectedly and realised that life can be very short and uncertain. Thus, she decided not to commit to a relationship and have her own family, as anything can happen to anyone at any time.
