The hashtag #ShameOnVijaySethupathi has been trending in the Twittersphere, and many of his fans are enraged. But, why?

Vijay Sethupathi has signed up to portray a famous Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan in a biopic directed by MS Sripathy. When the motion poster released, netizens were angry with his decision to take up the role. 

Many recalled the tragic events of the civil war that rocked Sri Lanka in the past and resulted in the deaths of thousands of Tamilians. Even director Seenu Ramasamy voiced out his concern and requested the actor to reconsider the role. 

With many tweets flooding the space opposing Vijay Sethupathi's association with the film, there are also a few speaking in favor of the actor. It's his job after all and he's not harming anyone by taking up a biopic.

On another note,Vijay Sethupathi was positive that he will act in the film while speaking to a Sri Lankan media. In the audio of the interview, Vijay said the film will be a reply to all the questions.

But with the recent turns of events and some of his cryptic tweets, netizens are wondering if the actor will walk out of the film eventually.
