Thalapathy Vijay's fans have been anticipating his upcoming film Master directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj since 2020. The film upped their expectations as Vijay Sethupathi joined the cast as villain.

However, the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak pushed the release of the film to Pongal this year. Initially, the Tamil Nadu government allowed full occupancy at the theatres for the film's release on 13th Jan. But, the Ministry of Home Affairs has issued an order against the TN government's decision to increase the seating capacity of theatres from 50% to 100%. The Home Affairs ministry urged the TN government to follow the guidelines issued under the Disaster Management Act. Take a look:
