Remember the actor who played Kamal Haasan's grandfather in Pammal K Sambanthan? While many might know recognise him by the name Unnikrishnan Namboothiri, his role in the film made him memorable among the audience.

Aged 98, Unnikrishnan recently recovered from COVID-19 and was discharged just a day before. However, his health deteriorated on Wednesday (Jan 20) unexpectedly and was rushed to the hospital where he took his last breath.

The actor began his career in the 1990s and captured hearts in his roles as a loving grandfather in the Malayalam industry. His most notable work in Tamil was in Pammal K Sambanthan where he played a sick grandfather with the final wish to watch the grandson's wedding. He also appeared in Kandukondain Kandukondain as Aishwarya Rai and Tabu's grandfather.

May the actor's soul rest in peace.
