Astro has launched Pelan A+ SPM, a series of seminars for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates, as an additional medium for their academic revisions.

From 13th November onwards, every Friday and Saturday at 10am on Astro Tutor TV SPM (channel 603), students can ‘attend’ the 2-hour seminar which hosts subjects including Bahasa Melayu, English, Mathematics, Science and History.

Pelan A+ SPM offers tips, techniques, and prediction topics from experienced teachers including Mr Shankar for Mathematics, Dr Jay and Dr Mellisa for Science, Mr Rosle and Mr Mike Mahen for History, Mr Suguz for Bahasa Melayu, dan Ms Jowana for English. Each seminar is also accessible via the Astro GO app and on demand.

Astro believes that as the learning medium is simplified, interest for learning could increase and be nurtured, especially for those who will sit for the SPM examination. Pelan A+ SPM is one of Astro's initiatives to help boost academic performance for Form 5 students who will sit for their SPM papers in 2021, as recently announced by the government.

Cecilia Wong, Head of Astro Tutor TV said, “Since its inception, learning via the television has been cultivated at Astro through the Astro Tutor TV channels (601 for UPSR; 602 for PT3 and 603 for SPM). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many schools chose ‘online learning’ as the main medium for teaching and learning sessions for students, continuing now in the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).

"Undoubtedly, online learning is able to provide plenty of benefits to children when faced with the closure of schools. However, there are some students who do not have personal computers or Internet connection to participate.

"As online learning has its own limitations, Astro further diversifies the medium of learning for students in Malaysia, and one of our efforts is Pelan A+ SPM seminar series, where students can do their revisions via the television and ‘attend’ this exclusive seminar for free.

"We hope that this series of seminars can to some extent help alleviate parents’ worries on their children’s education performance and help prepare SPM candidates for their exams."
