The event, held at TGV KLCC, took fans back to the 1960s town of Derry through a creative fusion of eerie nostalgia and local horror flair. Guests were greeted with a chilling 60s-themed lobby activation, complete with a Derry Case Files challenge, scary screen photobooth, and Astro Rewards redemption zone.
As night fell, Astro One unleashed its very own Pennywise walkabout stunt along the KLCC–Pavilion Linkbridge, catching unsuspecting passersby in fright. Later, guests inside the cinema hall were startled by a surprise Pennywise appearance, setting a spine-tingling tone before the exclusive premiere of Episode 1, leaving audiences triple shocked and glued to their seats.
Adding to the cultural spotlight of the city, Astro One’s DOOH campaign lit up the digital screens around KLCC with the cheeky local warning, “Orang tua selalu pesan, jangan keluar sorang-sorang nanti ada yang ikut”, blending international horror with uniquely Malaysian flair.
The screening was attended by familiar faces including Keanu Azman, Hani Fadzil, Ain Ramli, Ravi Zephyr, Ashhrapp, Sharul Kamal, Cora Waybin, Myra Afrina, Ahmad Adly, Azri Safix, Amira Rafik, Munabella, Fattahzie, Daniel Cheang, Afiq Hamidon, and more alongside media partners, stakeholders, and lucky Astro Rewards members.
Astro One continues to elevate entertainment experiences for Malaysian audiences, following its strong partnership history with HBO Max through past activations such as House of the Dragon (Season 1) at Sunway Pyramid, House of the Dragon (Season 2) at MRT Pasar Seni, and The Last of Us at Kwai Chai Hong.
The IT: Welcome to Derry screening showcased Astro’s ongoing commitment to creating memorable, culturally resonant campaigns that merge storytelling, fandom, and experiential marketing, proving once again that the best of HBO Max is truly best experienced with Astro One.
