From everyone’s favourite ‘Oh My English’ series to the beloved ‘SMK Study Squad,’ Astro has consistently served up fresh and entertaining educational content suited for learners of all ages. No stranger to reinventing the education game, this time Astro has released yet another fun learning series, SPM PRO+, further solidifying the group’s commitment to championing education.
Astro Assistant Vice President, Content Creation - GenNext Studio, Yasmin Yahya said, “We have done extensive market research and found that the pandemic has made learning increasingly challenging for school-goers, especially those preparing for SPM. In an effort to help these students ease their exam stress, we have created a new content called SPM PRO+.
"Through this new academic show, we have assembled a team of “pros” - popular young tutors who make learning fun, such as Iqbal Ahyar, Ifwat Rosdi, Syahmi Azizi, Syuhadak Seplee, Maryam Khan, Farez Atan and PU Azman; with a mission to help students ace their SPM, like a pro. The series aims to lower students’ stress as they prepare for their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations through a cool and contemporary approach."
SPM students can tune in to SPM PRO+ On Demand and on Astro GO or catch it daily from Monday to Saturday at 9pm on Astro Tutor TV SPM (CH603). With 180 bite-sized episodes in total, each lasting about 7 minutes, SPM PRO+ covers all core subjects – Bahasa Melayu, English, Science, Mathematics, History, Pendidikan Moral, and Pendidikan Islam according to the latest Kurikulum Standard Sekolah Menengah (KSSM) format.
SPM PRO+ promises to help Form 4 and 5 students navigate the topics and Higher Order Thinking Skills (KBAT) that will be assessed in the upcoming SPM exams through sample questions, PRO+ Tips and other useful learning content.
According to Edison Cheam, Assistant Vice President of Original Content; “Beyond video content, Astro will offer extensive 360o educational content online. Students will also be able to access additional brief notes, practice objective and subjective questions with sample answers, and other helpful videos, on Astro’s complimentary education portal, Upped (www.upped.com.my).
The website will include all subjects covered in the SPM PRO+ series as well as not covered on the show such as Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Economics, Accounting, Business, and Additional Mathematics.”
In recent years, Astro has been taking more proactive steps to focus on the education agenda. Earlier this year, the Group’s smash education series, ‘SMK: Study Squad’ raked in over 1.46 million views, making it the country’s most watched academic show by Malaysians. The media company have also released several strong education titles such as Misi Studi SPM, Pelan A+ SPM and Dekoded.
In addition to equipping all 10,000 government schools, five hostels and one youth centre in East Malaysia with the Astro decoder, Astro Kasih, its charitable foundation, has also donated 30 laptops to primary schools to aid the students with online learning.
For more flexible viewing options, all Astro education programs can be streamed through the Astro GO app and on demand, Astro PVR Box or Ultra Box. Find out more at https://astro.com.my/HowTo.
