The Tanjai Kamalaa Indira (TKI) Dance School, in collaboration with the Tan Sri K.R Soma Arts & Cultural Foundation of the National Land Finance Cooperative Society (NLFCS), is holding the Natyaaamirtham: The Nectar of Dance this coming Saturday, July 23.

According to the organisers, the dance recital accompanied by live music will be held at the PJ Civic Centre at Jalan Yong Shook Lin, Petaling Jaya, at 7.30pm onwards.

The doors will be open at 6.30pm and admission is FREE, and NO prior registration is required. Seating is also free and not pre-booked.

A press statement by the organisers said that the mega production event is yet another collaboration between the TKI and the foundation after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and after their previously highly successful "Thillana Mohanambal Dance Drama" show held in 2019.

"Natyaamirtham is an experiment on the different ways in which the nectar of joy is expressed through the dance, and how the joys of life can be cherished.

"Art fosters unity, crosses borders and boundaries to bring people together Hence, after a hiatus of two years, we would like people from all walks of life to attend this event to experience the beauty and magnificence of Bharathanatyam," said the statement.

Among the performances that will be included in the recital are Lord Shiva's 'Thiruvilayadal, Lord Krishna antics in 'Krishna Leela', the life in old Malaya's agricultural estates, as well as the 'Thillana', the dance of joy that puts forth emotions of exhilaration, jubilation and bliss in celebrating the splendour of life despite the many hurdles and setbacks that survival brings.

For the record, the Tanjai Kamalaa Indira Dance School, is one of the pioneers of Indian classical dance in Malaysia, after its establishment in 1966.
