Bigg Boss S3 contestant and actor Meera Mitun has been let out on bail by a court in Chennai on Wednesday - more than a month after she was arrested for making casteist remarks.

In making the ruling, Principal Sessions Judge R Selvakumar said that "erring" is human nature, reported The News Minute.

"As per the prosecution case, the accused released the video footage on social media, containing speeches that insulted the entire Scheduled Caste community.

"Tough some words were uttered by Meera Mitun, the other petitioner also accompanied as a co-actor. The two were in custody for nearly five weeks. Penal provisions cannot be invoked at the time of bail. It can be proved by the prosecution during the trial. Since they are in custody for five weeks and the fact that to err is human nature, this court is inclined to grant bail," he was quoted saying.

The other petitioner refers to Meera's boyfriend Sam Ahishek, who was also arrested pertaining to the issue.

The duo was ordered released on bail on their executing a bond for Rs 10,000 each with two sureties each for a like sum to the satisfaction of the court. They were also ordered to appear before the police daily at 10.30 am until further orders and not to tamper with the evidence or witness either during investigation or trial.

Further, the duo were also barred from absconding durial trial, failing which the court will be empowered to take the appropriate action against them in accordance with the law.

Meera was arrested by the police in Kerala on August 14 after various complaints were lodged against her remarks on a talk show that alleged members of the Scheduled Tribes in the cinema industry were involved in illegal activities, and crimes. She also claimed that directors from the community do "cheap things" and said that it was time to send them away.

When the police turned up to arrest her, the controversial actor released a video, claiming that she was being "tortured" by the police, and threatened to take her own live if she was taken away forcefully.
