Actor Dhanush's newly-released film 'Atrangi Re' featuring Bollywood star Akshay Kumar and star kid Sara Ali Khan appears to be fraught with controversy.

Launched on the OTT platform Disney Plus Hotstar last week, the film received mixed reviews with critics praising Dhanush's performance, but disappointed with the lackluster storyline and plot inconsistencies.

Sara Ali Khan plays a Bihari girl named Rinku who is married to Tamil lad Vishu (Dhanush) forcibly, however she's in love with a magician Sajjad Ali (Akshay Kumar).

Twittersphere is currently flooding with tweets calling for a boycott of the film with the hashtag #BoycottAtrangiRe. Some netizens accuse the film of portraying Hindus in a poor light, however, there haven't been any comments from the director or stars regarding the issue.
