Cooking enthusiasts, rejoice! MasterChef Australia Season 13 will premier this coming July 19, Hello (CH702), with new episodes airing every Monday to Saturday, at 8.30pm.

Among the 24 contestants vying for the ultimate prize of $250,000 will be Fijian-Indian Justin Narayan, 27, who's residing in Perth, Western Australia.

Narayan, who started cooking at a very young age, cites his mother as one of his biggest inspirations, and celebrity chefs Gaggan Anand and Gordon Ramsay as his favourites.

Narayan is not the first Indian contestant of the popular Australian cooking show. Prison guard Sashi Cheliah bagged the first prize in the tenth instalment of the show in 2018.

Throughout the show, Narayan will vow the judges with his Indian-themed dishes, which include Indian Chicken Tacos, Charcoal Chicken with Toum, Flatbread and Pickle Salad, as well as Indian Chicken Curry.

Astro Ulagam caught up with Narayan in a brief interview session via Zoom today.

"My focus on the show would be to keep making food that I enjoyed eating while I grew up," he said.

According to India Today, Narayan plans to run a food truck or restaurant dishing out his Indian-themed specialties., and use portions of his proceeds from the business to help slum dwellers in India.
