The highly anticipated 66th National Film Award was held on 9th August in Delhi, where movies such as Padmaavat, KGF and Uri win big at the event.

South Indian actress Keerthi Suresh was honoured with the 'Best Actress' award for her stellar performance in Mahanati - a Telugu film depicting the biography of legendary actress Savitri.

While Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Punjabi, Kannada, Gujarati, Marathi and Bengali movies managed to win awards in certain categories, Tamil movies failed to win big awards in the ceremony.

A film titled 'Baram' was given the 'Best Movie' award under the Tamil movie category, and many were not aware of the existance of such a movie.
