Despite the pandemic tslowing down the film biz in 2020 and 2021, several up-and-coming stars fared remarkably well and took the industry by storm. Let's take a look at five stars that have made waves in Kollywood, whether it's because of their roles in films or their social media presence:

Priyanka Mohan

Actress Priyanka Mohan is barely three-films-old in Tamil cinema, but she's already making waves in K-town by signing to star with top actors like Suriya and Jayam Ravi. Her journey began with Sivakarthikeyan's dark comedy flick 'Doctor,' where she wowed audiences with her beauty and bubbly on-screen presence. Recently, she featured opposite Suriya in 'Etharkkum Thunindhavan' and will be sharing screen space with Sivakarthikeyan once again in 'Don.' According to reports, Priyanka will also be starring with Jayam Ravi in her next film.

Vasanth Ravi

Vasanth Ravi is a health care professional and actor with just two film credits to his name. His first film 'Taramani,' in which he co-starred with Andreah Jeremiah, garnered critical acclaim and multiple awards, including the 'Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut – South.' Rocky (2021), directed by debutant Arun Matheswaran, gained acclaim from reviewers, celebrities, and the general public, praising the cast performances, directing, script, and cinematography. There haven't been any announcements on his next film, though.

Arjun Das

Arjun Das has been active in the film world since 2012, but it wasn't until his portrayal as 'Anbu' in the 2019 film 'Kaithi' that he enjoyed massive recognition. The actor has attracted widespread acclaim for his bass-baritone voice and has even hosted a show on Radio One's 94.3FM. Arjun was eventually signed to play a significant part in Vijay's 'Master,' which thrust him back into the spotlight. The actor is now working on many mega-projects, including the highly awaited 'Vikram,' which stars Kamal Haasan, Fahadh Faasil, and Vijay Sethupathi.

Dhruv Vikram

When Dhruv made his debut, the bar was set rather high. As Vikram's son, he was destined to be overshadowed by his father's talent and fame. However, the actor took it upon himself to carve out an identity in the industry. Despite only having three films to his credit, Dhruv is now a household name in Kollywood and the heartthrob of many female fans. The actor has now signed a project with filmmaker Mari Selvaraj, who previously worked on films like 'Pariyerum Perumal' and 'Karnan'.

Malavika Mohanan

Malavika Mohanan, an actress and model, is no stranger to the film industry. She has worked in Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi films prior to making her Tamil debut in a minor but significant part in 'Petta.' Malavika became a national hit after her performance in the Rajinikanth film and went on to act in Thalapathy Vijay's 'Master' and Dhanush's 'Maaran.' Malavika is now starring in a Hindi film with another rising talent Siddhant Chaturvedi.
