The sudden demise of popular TV comedian Vadivel Balaji has shocked everyone. Many TV personalities and Kollywood celebrities like Dhanush and Aishwarya Rajesh have expressed their shock and disbelief at his untimely death. Vijay Sethupathi visited Balaji's family to pay his respects.

Vadivel Balaji was undergoing treatment for the last two weeks after having a heart attack. Unable to pay the bills, he shifted from hospital to hospital and took his last breath at a government hospital in Chennai.

Now, Balaji's close friend and fellow comedian Aranthangi Nisha has revealed shocking details leading up to his death. Aranthangi claimed that he became depressed since the beginning of the lockdown as he lost the means to support his family financially.

His earnings largely depended on working in TV shows and he was eliminated from a show he participated with his wife. This took a toll on his mental health as the show was his only way of generating income.

Nisha further revealed that Balaji confided to her that he couldn't handle the lack of work and mounting financial pressures. His wife who is uneducated, can't even write or read.

Aranthangi Nisha believes that if he continued his treatment in a private hospital, Balaji would've been alive.

The comedian is survived by his wife, a son, and a daughter.
