Thalapathy Vijay is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars in Kollywood. His films run for weeks after its release and fans go gaga when he appears in public places.

Over the last few years, Vijay has acted in films that discuss the social issues in India. He's trying to use his star power to instill good social messages among his fans.

Some of his films like Mersal talked about crimes in the medical industry; Sarkar raised awareness against electoral fraud; and Bigil highlighted women empowerment.

But his views in one such film created a controversy back in 2014. Vijay acted in the advertisement for a cola brand, but in Kaththi he criticized companies that make cola drinks.

Fans were confused about why Vijay endorsed a product that he had attacked in his own film. Replying to his fans' questions, Vijay said that many celebrities like Sachin Tendulkar and Amir Khan have also promoted the brand and he no longer endorses the cola drink.

“When I read the script of Kaththi, it made sense to me and I voiced it through Jeeva’s character. I am a normal person who has corrected himself after realising I have been wrong on certain issues,” he said.

Next, the actor will be seen in 'Master' directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and starring Vijay Sethupathi, Malavika Mohanan, Arjun Das, Andrea Jeremiah, and Shanthanu Bhagyaraj.
