Amala Akkineni is a famous South Indian actress in the 80s who fell in love and got married to leading actor Nagarjuna in 1992.

Amala is the daughter of a navy officer and spent most of her childhood moving to different places. But upon growing up, the actress settled down in Chennai to complete the Fine Arts degree in Bharatanatyam from Kalakshetra College of Fine Arts.

Her parents, however, got divorced and Amala struggled to make ends meet. The actress ended up taking up odd jobs to support herself and started dancing in events.

Amala landed her first role in the movie in 'Maithali Ennai Kathali', and her career shot up from there. Now the actress has turned into an animal rights activist and started the Blue Cross of Hyderabad.

In a previous interview conducted several years back, Amala's Irish mother Ammatho revealed that she wanted to pass peacefully at home when the time comes, and not at the hospital.
