Actor-turned-filmmaker Jason Sanjay has finally addressed the constant public speculation surrounding his family, saying that people often make assumptions without knowing the full picture.
Speaking in an interview with Behindwoods TV ahead of the release of his directorial debut, Sigma, starring Sundeep Kishan, Jason reflected on growing up in one of Tamil cinema's most well-known families and the responsibility that comes with it.
Without directly addressing the rumours surrounding his father, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, and his mother Sangeetha, Jason acknowledged that public attention often leads to assumptions.
"Sometimes, there are positive narratives and other times, not-so-positive ones. I read the comments to understand how people perceive my film and my family. Some encourage me, while others criticize our personalities and make assumptions about us. There is a lot of love, legacy and responsibility because of my family," he said.
Jason also described Vijay's election victory as Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister as "a historic revolution," adding that it has brought a greater sense of responsibility not only for him but for his sister and their entire family.
"We need to carry forward and safeguard this responsibility and legacy," he said.
The young filmmaker also shared one piece of advice from his father that continues to guide him. Rather than relying on the family name, Vijay encouraged him to build his own identity.
"He always wanted me to create my own name. We were on the same wavelength. As a father, he has always supported me, but when it came to my career, he wanted me to learn through my own experiences. He never spoon-fed me. I'm grateful to him, my mother and my entire family," Jason shared.
Jason revealed that Vijay would always help if asked but expected him to take the initiative first, believing that real growth comes from learning things independently.
Jason's comments come amid months of speculation surrounding Vijay's personal life. While rumours about Vijay and Sangeetha's marriage have circulated widely on social media, the family has never publicly confirmed or addressed those claims.
