Kaatrukkenna Veli is one of the top serials on Vijay TV. The series follows the story of a young woman Vennila who goes against all odds to continue her studies. She ran away from her home a day before her forced wedding.

One of the biggest supporters of Vennila is her professor and mentor Sharada who motivates her throughout the series. Initially, Sharada was played by the popular serial actress and politician Malavika Avinash.

The actress is a known face for the TV audience due to her roles in the serials Anni and Chellamey. She was also seen in the Kannada film KGF Chapter 1.

Malavika fit perfectly in the role due to her bold and outspoken personality. However, without any explanation, she was replaced by a new actress in the serial.
