Kamal Haasan is a legendary, multitalented actor in the South Indian cinema, who has also attempted directing and producing movies before diving into politics.

Kamal Haasan started his high-budget dream project 'Maruthanayagam', and launched it in the year 1997 in the presence of Queen Elizabeth II, late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanithi and late actor Sivaji Ganesan.

The Indian historical film was said to have a budget of Rs85 crore in the 90s and was considered the highest budgeted movie at that time. However, the movie got delayed after the co-producing British firm backed out.

Kamal who had invested about Rs8 crores into the movie announced the project will be revived at a later time. Over the years, Kamal has spoken about reviving the project many times; but after many failed attempts, the movie is yet to be revived after 20 years.

Following Marudhanayagam's delay, Kamal jumped into his next movie titled 'Marmayogi'- which also got shelved after some time.

Now Kamal has turned into a politician and has announced Indian 2 as the last movie in his acting career before his retirement. And rumours are again making round that Maruthanayagam will be revived once again, but with Vikram in the lead.

Recently, Kamal also mentioned that reviving Maruthanayagam is his dream, but he has yet to confirm if Vikram will be a part of the movie. Guess we have to wait to find out, if the movie will be revived after almost 20 years.
