According to the Times of India, Dhanush is once again entangled in a paternity court case filed by an elderly couple, Kathiresan and Meenakshi. The couple claims that he is their biological son and is now demanding Rs. 65,000 in monthly allowance from him.

Dhanush, born Venkatesh Prabhu Kasthuri Raja, had stated that he was the son of Tamil director Kasthuri Raja and his wife, Vijayalakshmi. Kathiresan and his wife, on the other hand, allege that Dhanush is their son who ran away from home as a child to pursue acting in the film industry, sparking a paternity dispute.

The case has been dragging on for years, and it was finally dismissed in 2020 because there was no supporting evidence to show that Dhanush's paternity certificates were fabricated.

However, the couple appealed that Dhanush allegedly filed fraudulent paternity documents and sought a police investigation. The Madras High Court has reportedly summoned Dhanush in response to Kathiresan and Meenakshi's plea.
