"Rap is something you do, Hip Hop is something you live," goes a quote by old-school American rapper KRS-One.
Now there's a reason for local Tamil Hip-Hop enthusiasts to rejoice. Entertainment company FourOne6 is organising their very first hip-hop concert called "Naamastay Hip Hop" on May 29, from 4pm to 9pm at The Bee, in Publika, Kuala Lumpur.
The event will feature seasoned local Tamil Hip Hop artistes, as well as budding talents in the industry.
Standup comedian Hindra Bose aka mamajammapuma will be hosting the concert, along with the DJ Nexto on the decks.
Among the artistes who would be performing at the event include Pyschomantra, who has been a huge part of the local Tamil Hip Hop industry since 2007, and is noted for snappy lyrics, beautiful rhymes, and lively rap styles.
Also setting the stage on fire are seasoned rapper cum songwriter 'Rockaboy' Sheezay, 'Stylish Tamilachi' Yunohoo, Rap Porkalam Season 1 champion CJL, renowned rapper, singer cum producer Arvind Raj, as well as Axis, and The Inc, which comprises of trio Manneesh, Mavindblaze, and Vrisnaan.
In addition, Klang native Arunboii who rose to fame with his debut single "Enge Port", and female rapper Tharagai, who also participated in Rap Porkalam Season 1, will also be performing at the event. Local composer/producer/multi-instrumentalist duo Music Kitchen will make a special appearance.
According to the organizers, the event aims to provide an annual musical event for Malaysian Hip Hop artistes to showcase their talents, and to pave way for a stronger future for the local Tamil Hip Hop industry.
Tickets are priced at RM69 each and goodie bags will be given to the first 100 ticket buyers.
Entry into the concert is strictly limited to those who are fully vaccinated and are at low risk of COVID-19, and those aged 18 and above only.
