With a star-studded cast led by Rajinikanth, Jailer 2 had plenty of reasons to attract audiences. But amid the film’s big names and action-packed moments, actor Namo Narayana has emerged as one of its most talked-about surprises, winning fans over with his portrayal of Pazhakkadai Moorthy.
The actor’s performance has even caught the attention of director Nelson Dilipkumar, who singled him out when asked which actor surprised him the most in the film.
“If I have to name someone, it is definitely actor Namo Narayana. His character is a very important one. There was a doubt whether he would pull it off properly. But he brought what was envisioned onto the screen successfully,” Nelson said.
It is a strong endorsement from the director, and audiences appear to be responding to the character in their own way. While Rajinikanth remains a major attraction as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, Moorthy has become a fan favourite for his humour, distinctive personality and unexpected moments.
One of the highlights drawing attention is Moorthy’s chess match with Suraj Venjaramoodu’s character. His confidence and unconventional approach add to the film’s dark humour, giving audiences moments that stand out amid the action and larger-than-life star power.
Fans have also been discussing his tea-shop scenes and memorable dialogue, praising the way Nelson uses the character to deliver comedy in unexpected situations.

“We deserve a full-fledged MOORTHI spin-off. Thor and Harry Potter references were blastmaxx,” one fan wrote on social media.
Another viewer suggested that Nelson should explore an out-and-out comedy film featuring Namo Narayana in the lead role, arguing that the actor’s comic timing could carry a full-length entertainer.
These reactions reflect how strongly Moorthy’s character has connected with viewers. While a spin-off remains a fan wish rather than a confirmed project, the demand highlights the impression Namo Narayana has made.
Before becoming a talking point among Jailer 2 audiences, Namo Narayana had already built a steady career in Tamil cinema. He made his acting debut in Samuthirakani’s Naadodigal in 2009, after working as a software engineer.
He went on to appear in films including Easan, Poraali, Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga, Kutti Puli, Komban, Rajini Murugan, Viswasam, Naadodigal 2 and Raayan.
His role as Pazhakkadai Moorthy has now brought renewed attention to his screen presence and comic timing. In a film filled with established stars, he has given audiences another character to talk about long after the action scenes end.
Rajinikanth may be the face of Jailer 2, but Namo Narayana’s Moorthy is proving that a standout performance does not always need to come from the biggest name on the poster. Sometimes, the character audiences least expect becomes the one they cannot stop talking about.
