The chemistry between Kathir and Mullai was such a hit that Pandian Stores gained a huge fan following. The on-screen couple also captured the hearts of their fans by participating in the Jodi Fun Unlimited dance competition around the same time.
However, Kathir-Mullai fans got the shock of their lives when VJ Chitra was found dead by suicide at a hotel in Chennai last year. Kaavya Arivumani replaced Chitra as Mullai and was warmly welcomed into the show by the cast and fans.
Recently, the title 'Makkal Naayagi' was posthumously bestowed upon the late actress at the Vijay TV Awards 2021. The entire cast of Pandian Stores and serial actresses from different shows went up on stage to pay their tributes. The cast revealed that they are still struggling to move on from her passing.
Following the telecast of the show, Kumaran has shared an emotional note thanking everyone and promising that he will try to be the best version of Kathir.
