Vijay Sethupathi recently hit the headlines when a fan allegedly tried to attack the actor after he reportedly refused to take a selfie.

The video went viral and following the news, the alleged attacker named Maha Gandhi released a voice note on Whatsapp explaining that he's also an actor and tried to congratulate Vijay Sethupathi for winning the National award.

He claimed that Vijay Sethupathi's assistants attacked him, making him strike back as seen in the video. He also alleged that the actor spoke ill of the freedom fighter Muthuramalinga Thevar.

On the other hand, Vijay Sethupathi refuted Maha Gandhi's claims and alleged that he was drunk and insisted on speaking to him. When Vijay Sethupathi refused politely, he claimed that Maha Gandhi attacked his assistant.

The actor also strongly denied insulting Muthuramalinga Thevar and warned of legal consequences if such false accusations continued against him. Despite clearing his name, Vijay Sethupathi faced the wrath of a politician named Arjun Sampath.

Arjun Sampath offered Rs 1,001 (RM56) cash to anyone who kicks Vijay Sethupathi until he apologizes for reportedly insulting the freedom fighter. The cash reward given is for one kick.

Vijay Sethupathi has yet to respond to Arjun Sampath's controversial tweet. Many fans has come in to support the actor and roasted the politician for inciting hatred and violence.
