It's finally here! After months of anticipation, PS-2 is hitting the big screen today!

There’s no denying that the magnum opus of Mani Ratnam's film has created a massive history last year. And now the CHOLAS are making their epic returns for the final installment. So as a spectator, what could we expect from the much-anticipated sequel?

1. The Main Plot

Though the film's story is well known as it is about the Chola dynasty, the sequel is said to give us the final answer on who takes over the kingdom.

From PS -1, we have witnessed Vikram as Aditha Karikalan, the warrior who gets into more wars and makes a win. There’s no difference in Ps -2 as well since the civil war will be taking place in the same kingdom.

2. Oomai Rani will have more screen appearance on PS-2

As Nandhini (played by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) prepares herself for a big fight in the Kingdom, the sequel is bound to explore more truth about her past and also the important role of the mother, Oomai Rani. The sequel will also dwell more into her role.

It is expected that she will have more screen presence in the sequel as she is one of the most prominent characters in the novel that the movie is based on.

3. The continuation from the cliffhanger of PS-1

As we all wait with bated breath for the sequel to Ponniyin Selvan, we can't help but wonder what will happen next. Will Arul Mozhi Varman and Vandhiyathevan be able to find their way back to shore?

4. Revelation of who Manimekalai is…

The character of Manimekalai has not yet been introduced, but we could expect some revelation about the princess of Kadambur, who is engaged to the crown prince Aditya Karikalan.
As per the novel, she falls in love with Vanthiyathevan and yearns for his love in return. Manimekalai agrees to marry Karikalan but meets a tragic end. It will be interesting to see how the director portrays this character in the movie adaptation.

5. Death of Aditya Karikalan

A massive storm and battle will take place in Ponniyin Selvan 2. In Kalki’s novel, the death of Aditya Karikalan sets off a chain of events that leads to a power struggle for the throne of the Chola dynasty. It also leads to the introduction of new characters and further complicates the already complex political landscape of the novel.
