Forbes India magazine has released its Celebrity 100 list for 2019 and several Kollywood celebrities have made it to the list, with Superstar Rajinikanth placing top-most for South Indian stars.
The list has reportedly been compiled based on the estimated earnings and media visibility of the stars, which include sportspersons, music composers and comedians too.
According to Forbes, the rank is an aggregate of estimated earnings and the fame quotient, hence, some celebrities who score high on fame might emerge as ranking higher than those who have higher revenues, but a poor fame score.
'Thalaivar' Rajinikanth placed no 13 on the list, with an earning of Rs100 crore (RM58.23 million) in 2019.
This is one level up than last year's 14th placing for the 67-year-old actor.
Music composer AR Rahman placed 16th on the list, with a recorded earning of Rs94.8 crore. Although the 16th placing is down from Rahman's previous 11th and 12th rankings (in 2018 and 2017 respectively), his popularity is very much buoyant, thanks to his US and Canadian tours last, and this year.
From this, the list takes quite a plunge before the next Kollywood star, before settling on Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay at 47th ranking.
The 45-year-old "Bigil" star reportedly earned Rs30 crore last year.
"Thalai" Ajith Kumar follows suit at 52nd placing, with Rs40.5 crore in earnings. Although the low-key actor has earned more than his counterpart Vijay, his ranking is lower due to the fame quotient as mentioned above.
"Indian 2" director S Shankar ranks 55, with Rs31.5 crore in earning, followed by Ulaganayagan Kamal Hassan at 56th rank, with Rs34 crores in earning.
Kamal, despite not having any of his movie released in 2019, has managed to climb up 15 ranks from last year's 71st placing, thanks to his stint in hosting the wildly popular Bigg Boss reality show in Tamil.
Actor Dhanush comes at 64th placing, with Rs31.75 crore in earning.
The Kollywood names on the list are wrapped up by directors Sivakumar of "Visvasam" fame and "Petta's" Karthik Subbaraj, at 80th and 84th placing respectively.
Siva earned Rs12.17 crore and Karthik, Rs13.5 crore, in 2019.
No Kollywood actress has made the list, which was topped by cricketer Virat Kohli, who earned a staggering Rs252.72 crore, in 2019.
