Ramya On Marriage: “Being Happy Is What Matters The Most”

Sandalwood actor Ramya, also known as Divya Spandana, has once again caught the attention of fans with her candid thoughts on marriage, relationships and what truly matters when it comes to finding happiness.

Although the actor has been making selective appearances on screen in recent years, she continues to stay connected with her fans through social media and public appearances. Naturally, her personal life, especially questions surrounding marriage, continues to be a topic of curiosity among fans.

During a recent conversation with journalist Nabila Jamal, Ramya was asked about her views on marriage. Her response, which has since made its way across social media, offered a refreshingly straightforward perspective.

“Is getting married really that important? Definitely not. Marriage does not define who I am. We are happy without being married, aren't we? Being happy is what matters the most. We are often told that either you should be married or you should be happy. You have to choose what you want,” Ramya said.

Her comments have struck a chord with many, particularly at a time when marriage is still often viewed as an expected milestone in a woman's life.

But Ramya made it clear that she isn't dismissing marriage altogether.

For her, the success of a marriage comes down to the bond between two people, particularly friendship, shared values and mutual understanding.

“As human beings, we constantly need changes. Perhaps that is where the problem begins. If you are good friends and share the same values, then getting married feels like a good idea. I think people who are married and happy would agree with what I am saying,” she explained.

Rather than seeing marriage as something people should pursue simply because society expects it, Ramya appears to believe that the right relationship should naturally be built on compatibility and companionship.

And what about Ramya herself?

Addressing the question that fans have been asking for years, the actor admitted that she has yet to meet someone she would consider marrying.

“I still haven't found such a person. I am not even focusing on it. I am busy working. A relationship requires time,” she said.

For now, the actor appears to be more focused on her work and other priorities rather than actively looking for a partner.

Ramya has continued to make selective appearances in cinema and recently played a lead role in Upendra's Raktha Kashmira, which was released in January 2026.

Her latest comments may have sparked plenty of conversation online, but at the heart of them is a simple message, marriage can be a beautiful choice, but happiness and compatibility should never be sacrificed simply to meet society's expectations.
