Transitioning from child artist to a full-fledged lead actor or actress has worked for many celebrities in Kollywood before. Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan is one of the prime examples, but not everyone is as lucky as he is.

Mahendran is a male child artist who has acted in a record number of films throughout his childhood. He won two Filmfare awards for the films 'Thaikulame Thaikulame' and 'Kumbakonam Gopalu'.
However, replicating similar success in acting during adulthood has been a difficult task for him. His debut as a lead actor in 'Vizha' (2013) opened with positive feedback, however, he didn't land many opportunities in the industry.
He has opened up in his past interviews that the audience is still viewing him as a child, and breaking out from that image has been tough. The actor who played Vijay's younger brother in 'Minsara Kanna', played Vijay Sethupathi's younger version in Vijay's hit film 'Master'.
