Veteran Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor has died, after a two-year battle with cancer.

The 67-year-old actor breathed his last at the HN Reliance Hospital in Mumbai, with his wife Neetu Kapoor by his side.

He was taken to the hospital on Wednesday after suffering breathing problems.

Tributes poured in following the actor's demise.

Superstar Rajinikanth tweeted: "Heartbroken ... Rest In Peace ... my dearest friend #RishiKapoor"Ulaganayagan Kamal Hassan, who had starred along Rishi in 1885's Sagar, also took to Twitter to express his condolence. .Telugu superstar also paid his tribute on Twitter, saying he lost a good friend.Rishi was diagnosed with cancer in 2018 and sought treatment for almost a year in New York, before returning to India in September 2019.

Rishi, who is survived by wife Neetu, and children Riddhima Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor, was hospitalised twice last February, after suffering from health complications.

The son of late actor of Raj Kapoor, debuted as an adult star in the 1973 hit film Bobby, alongside Dimple Kapadia.

Some of this other hits include Amar Akbar Anthony, Laila Majnu, and Bol Radha Bol.

He was last seen in Emraan Hashmi's The Body, and was working on a remake of Hollywood film The Intern, with Deepika Padukone, prior to his death.

Watch Mulk, on Wednesday, May 6, at 9pm, and 102 Not Out, on Thursday, May 7, also at 9pm.

Mulk tells the story of Murad Ali Mohammed and his daughter-in-law trying to prove their innocence after their family gets accused of having ties with extremist groups, while 102 Not Out is about a 102-year-old who lives like a youngster, and wants to break the world record for being the oldest man living on earth.
