A fresh challenge has emerged for Karuppu starring Suriya, after producer S. R. Prabhu officially announced the cancellation of the film’s special 9 AM screenings that were scheduled for May 14.
The sudden announcement came despite support from Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar, who had reportedly granted special permission for the early morning screenings of the much-anticipated action drama.
Production house Dream Warrior Pictures released an official statement saying:
“Due to unavoidable circumstances, the 9 AM shows for Karuppu will be cancelled. We sincerely apologise to everyone.”
The unexpected update left many fans disappointed, especially those who had already booked tickets to celebrate the film’s release on the big screen.
Following the announcement, director RJ Balaji shared an emotional message addressing the situation. While admitting that he did not yet have a clear answer regarding the setback, he assured fans that the team was doing everything possible to resolve the issue.

RJ Balaji also reflected on the difficult journey behind Karuppu, revealing that the film had faced several obstacles over the past 32 months.
“This film has always had hurdles, and somehow God has made us sail through all that and here we are after 32 months. This time as well, I have faith, complete faith in him,” he wrote on his X account.
His heartfelt words quickly resonated with fans online, many of whom expressed both frustration and emotional support for the team.
The filmmaker further stated that “Karuppu Saami” would help the film overcome its challenges and ensure a successful release, giving hope to audiences eagerly waiting for the project.
Apart from Suriya, the film also stars Trisha Krishnan in a significant role, adding to the excitement surrounding the release.
As of now, there is still uncertainty regarding the remaining scheduled shows, as the makers have yet to issue further clarification. Despite the setback, fans continue to hope that Karuppu will successfully overcome its final hurdles and reach theatres soon.
