The world may remember Raghuvaran for his intense screen presence and unforgettable performances, but beyond the spotlight, there was a quieter, more personal story, one of love, separation, friendship, and enduring connection.
For Rohini, their relationship was never just defined by marriage. It was something deeper, something that continued even after they chose to part ways.
They married in 1996, two individuals brought together by cinema and companionship. A few years later, their son Rishi was born, a bond that would forever connect them, no matter what life had in store. By 2004, they had decided to separate, but what remained was not bitterness. Instead, they chose understanding.
Even after their divorce, Raghuvaran remained a present and loving father. And Rohini, despite everything, continued to share a friendship with him, one built on respect and shared responsibility.
Sometimes, relationships do not end when they change form.
They simply evolve.
When Raghuvaran passed away in 2008, the loss was not just of an actor the world admired, but of a father, a friend, and a part of Rohini’s life that could never be replaced.
In one of her most heartfelt recollections, Rohini spoke about the painful day she had to pick up her son from school after his father’s passing. It was a moment that should have been private, a mother holding her child through grief. But instead, they were surrounded by cameras and questions.
“We just needed some space,” she shared, her words carrying the weight of that day.
Grief, after all, is not meant to be witnessed. It is meant to be felt, quietly.
Yet even in loss, what stands out is not the pain alone, but the love that remained.
Rohini sees parts of Raghuvaran in their son not just in appearance, but in spirit. The same determination, the same strong will. But she allowed him to choose his own path, away from cinema, towards medicine.
Because love is not about holding on. It is about letting someone become who they are meant to be.
Raghuvaran’s life may have been complex, marked by brilliance and struggle. But in the memories, he left behind in the roles he played, and in the relationships, he nurtured, there is something deeply human.
Not every love story is meant to last forever in the same form.
Some are meant to teach, to shape, and to stay… in a different way.
And perhaps that is what makes it unforgettable.
