Sai Pallavi Calls Playing Sita a Blessing: “I Prayed for Sita Maa to Act Through Me”

Taking on the role of Sita in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana is no ordinary acting assignment, and Sai Pallavi knows that better than anyone. Instead of approaching the character through technique alone, the actress chose a deeply personal and spiritual path, relying on prayer, meditation and inner stillness to portray one of Hinduism's most revered figures.

Speaking during the film's Pratham Sankalp event in New Delhi, Sai Pallavi shared that playing Sita was never something she actively pursued. To her, it was a blessing rather than a career milestone.

"I don't think I chose to play Sita Maa. I was blessed to play this role. It's not something you can chase or plan for," she said.

The actress revealed that before stepping in front of the camera, she would spend time in meditation, offering a simple prayer.

"I would sit and meditate and say, 'Sita Maa, you act through me. Whatever comes through me is what you want for the film.'"

Sai Pallavi explained that portraying a goddess required far more than memorising lines or understanding a script. She believed it demanded sincerity, humility and a clear state of mind.

"It's not easy for actors to get roles like this because it's not easy to play a goddess. There has to be an entire team putting their heart and soul into making it the best version possible," she shared.

Throughout the filming process, the actress consciously tried to maintain emotional balance and positive thoughts, believing that her inner state would reflect in her performance.

"I always tried to keep myself as pure as possible, at least in my thoughts, to remain neutral so that I could present the best version of myself," she said.

In recent months, Sai Pallavi has found herself at the centre of online criticism and public scrutiny. Yet, she has largely remained composed, choosing not to engage with negativity. Instead, she has allowed her work and her perspective to speak for themselves.
