Shoba Chandrasekhar, the mother of actor Vijay, shared a heartfelt reflection on her bond with her son and expressed her wish to one day portray his mother in a film.
A singer by passion, Shoba revealed that Vijay has always been a constant source of support throughout her musical journey. Despite his demanding schedule, he made it a point to attend her concerts whenever possible. “You should ask Vijay about that,” she said with a laugh, recalling how he would always try to find time for her performances.
She also shared her first-ever experience in front of the camera, which came through an advertisement. When the producers suggested that she appear in the ad alongside Vijay, he first sought her permission before agreeing to the project. Only after she gave her wholehearted consent did he give the nod. Though she had never faced the camera before, she went ahead with the shoot, describing it as a deeply emotional experience. “For half a day, Vijay was lying on my lap during the shoot. I thanked the producers for giving me that moment,” she said.
During the interaction, Shoba Chandrasekhar openly expressed her wish to act as Vijay’s mother in a film. She added that she would be delighted if such an opportunity arose and playfully asked Vijay, through the interview, to inform her immediately if a role ever comes her way.
Adding to the emotional moments, Shoba surprised the audience by taking to the stage and performing the popular song “Kodambakkam Area” alongside singer Tippu. She dedicated the performance to her son, making it a touching highlight of the evening.
