Chinmayi is a popular singer who shocked the industry by making sexual harassment allegations against India's renowned poet Vairamuthu in 2018. Since then she's been the torchbearer of 'Me Too' movement and a voice against the sexual abuse in the industry.

After the outbreak of COVID-19, India enforced a nationwide lockdown making many daily-wage workers and poor families lose their only source of income.

Disheartened by their plight, the singer came up with an idea to raise funds to help the needy during the lockdown. She has begun an initiative called 'music for charity'.

The idea first occurred to her when many of her fans requested the singer to emulate 'Vinnaithaandi Varuvayaa' Jessie's voice.

Chinmayi has been recording and sending songs to her fans personally to raise the money. Her most requested songs include 'Kannathil Muthamittal' and the Telugu song 'Piritama' from Majili.

The singer keeps a list in the excel sheet to make sure the funds reach those who need it the most. Truly an inspiring act!
