Actor Sivakumar is a veteran actor who's worked on over 190 movies in Kollywood.

He entered the industry via the movie Kaakum Karangal in the year 1965 and started playing supporting roles for prominent heroes such as MGR, Sivaji Ganesan and Gemini Ganesan.

Over time, he started getting leading roles and at one point even Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth played supporting roles in some of his movies.

Today, as his sons Surya and Karti have succeeded him as leading heroes in Kollywood, Sivakumar has restrained himself from playing any role in the movie industry; even father roles.

In an interview, the veteran actor revealed it is not easy for him to do supporting roles after having previously been a lead actor.

Kollywood doesn't mind having veteran actors playing the hero since actors in their 60s like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, and Vijayakanth are still playing the male lead.

Sivakumar said he realises he doesn't have the market to play the hero, but that he can't imagine himself playing the father to such actors.

"I helped Sathyaraj get a supporting role in a movie in the 80s. But he played the hero in 'Malabar Police' in 1999, in which I did a supporting role. Same thing when I had to play the father for Vijayakanth who is almost the same age as me. It just didn't feel right," said Sivakumar.

The actor stated he knows he can't be playing the hero any longer, but would rather stay out of the industry than play characters that don't make him happy. And this is why the actor has opted to act in Tamil serials instead!
