In South India, Thalaivar Rajinikanth is a household name. He has a massive fan base, and his films consistently shatter box office records when they are released.

He has received several awards and is regarded as the second highest-grossing actor in history, behind only the legendary actor-turned-politician MG Ramachandran.

Recently, a rare picture from the 1970s showing Rajinikanth in a Kannada stage performance at his birthplace Bangalore in the 1970s surfaced on the internet. Check it out:

The actor was dressed in tribal attire and holding a burning torch in the photo. His journey from a stage performer to one of Kollywood's greatest stars of all time is very inspiring.

It clearly demonstrates Thalaivar's love of acting way before pursuing a movie career. Even at the age of 72, Superstar is still eager to act and will soon begin filming for "Thalaivar 169."
