Since the release of the film's teaser, Soorarai Pottru starring Suriya and Guneet Monga has been the talk of the town. Directed by Sudha Kongara, the film is based on the life story of Air Deccan founder Captain GR Gopinath.

Originally, the film was scheduled for theatrical release on Apr 9, 2020. However, with the outbreak of Covid-19, many theatre operations were halted without further notice.

Now, the film's actor and producer Suriya has announced that 'Soorarai Pottru' will see an OTT release on Amazon Prime Video. In his official statement on Twitter, Suriya explained the hard work that went into the film. The decision was made as a producer who wants to give the audience a great film at the right time.

"The moment I heard the script from Director Sudha, I was sure it has to be told and I wanted to produce this film under 2D Entertainment. Essaying Capt. Gopinath’s character came to me as a challenge, but we are very proud of our final product! I am glad that audiences across the world will be able to watch Soorarai Pottru, on Amazon Prime Video from their homes in these unprecedented times. This film is our labor of love and I am happy that it will now entertain the global audience,” he said.

The film will have its digital premiere on Oct 30, 2020 in Amazon Prime Video. Along with Suriya, Paresh Rawal, Aparna Balamurali, Jackie Shroff and Mohan Babu will be playing important roles.
