Ultimate Star Ajith began his acting career from scratch. He didn't have a filmy background and made up to the top with his sheer will and passion for his craft.

Today, the actor is one of the top stars of Kollywood whose films will ensure theatres are filled up for weeks. He had many hits and misses throughout the years but his star status has only grown tremendously.

Ajith has an unusual practice of avoiding public functions, award shows, and even the promotional events of his films. His last known interview was years ago and fans are always to hear bits and pieces about the star from those who have worked with him.

In conjunction with the 20th anniversary of 'Kandukonden Kandukonden', its director Rajeev Menon revealed an inspiring moment from the shoot of the film in a Tamil magazine.

Actor Prasanth was originally offered Ajith's role in the film however he refused to pair with Tabu and sought Aishwarya Rai as his lady love. Rajeev approached Thala for the role and despite being confined to the hospital bed due to his back problem, Ajith agreed.

During the shooting of the popular song 'Enna Seyya Pogirai', the crew filmed in a scorching desert which said to have worsened Ajith's back pain.

In one of the sequences shot at the railway track. the crew had to dismantle and set up the equipment every time the train passes. During such breaks, Ajith would wind up in the truck containing cranes to take rest and relieve his back pain.

Rajeev Menon recalled a moment where he caught Ajith crying because of the unbearable pain but continued with the shoot. The entire crew was mesmerised with Thala's dedication.

The song eventually turned out to be one of the most celebrated Ajith songs in his film history.
