Former actress and anchor Kalyani Rohit started her journey in the entertainment biz early on. She debuted as a child artist in 'Alli Thanda Vaanam' and was known for her scenes with Prabhu Deva in the film.

Following the recognition of her talent, she appeared in a handful of films notably in Jayam. Soon, the actress moved on to become an anchor and a serial artist. She played the main lead in serials like Pirivom Santipom, Thayumanavan, Andal Azhagar, and Ganga.

As an anchor, she hosted a show called Beach Girls with VJ Bhavana. In the show, both of the anchors interviewed Tamil television industry celebrities and it turned out to be quite a hit.

In 2013, the star got married to Dr. Rohit and settled in Bangalore. While she continued to work in the entertainment biz, Kalyani was nowhere to be found after 2017.

Chatting with her fans online during the lockdown, Kalyani revealed the reason behind her exit from the TV and film industry. Kalyani opened up about a disturbing experience with a programming head of a famous TV channel who invited her to a pub to discuss details about her next show.

After the star insisted on meeting at a coffee shop, the said person hung up the phone and made sure she never received any opportunities from the channel.

Talking about the film industry, Kalyani was forced to leave as directors would often offer her lead roles with the request of 'adjustments' or sexual favours.

Sadly, the entertainment industry loses talents like Kalyani due to the exploitations of certain corrupt and malicious individuals. We hope the rise of the #MeToo movement will bring about change and provide opportunities for real talents like Kalyani to make a comeback.
