Tamil actor Vishal has vowed to continue paying for the education of 1,800 students, who were sponsored by Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar, after the latter's demise from a heart attack, last week.

"Puneeth Rajkumar is not just a good actor, but a good friend as well. I haven't seen such a down to earth superstar like him. He was doing a lot of social activities and I promise to take care of 1,800 students who are getting free education from him (Puneeth) from next year," India Times quoted the actor saying at the promotional event of his film Enemy, recently.

Vishal also took to Twitter to express his grief, after finding out about Puneeth's passing last Friday, which he dubbed a huge loss to the Karnataka movie industry.

Puneeth was only 46, when he succumbed to a heart attack, following an intense gym workout session. He leaves behind a wife and two daughters.

The famous actor was also a philanthropist - setting up 45 free schools, 26 orphanages, 19 cow shelters, and 16 old age gomes.

Following his demise, his eyes were also donated to four people, following in the footsteps of his father Dr Rajkumar, and mother Parvathamma, whose eyes were donated in 2006, and 2017, respectively.
