Director Vignesh Sivan's romantic comedy Kathuvakkula Rendu Kadhal, starring Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara, and Samantha, opened in the theatres on April 28. The film was claimed to be a critical and commercial success.

Vijay Sethupathi plays Rambo, an e-hailing driver by day and a bouncer by night at a club. He meets and falls in love with two women, Khatija (Samantha) and Kanmani (Nayanthara), with very unique personalities.

Both women begin a relationship without discovering each other's existence in Rambo's life. When the cat is out of the bag and Sethupathi is caught, he must live with both ladies to choose his partner.

Sivakarthikeyan was reportedly the first choice to fill Vijay Sethupathi's character in the film, and he was set to star with Nayanthara and Trisha in the original plans.

However, it has been rumored that Sivakarthikeyan could not appear in the film due to undisclosed reasons.
